GUILTY OF ASSAULT
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE A charge of indecently assaulting a girl seven years of age at Devonport on November 22 was brought against James Emanuel Gilbert, before Mr. Justice Fair tind a jury in the Supreme .Court yesterday. There was an alternative charge of assault. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Meredith, conducted the prosecution and Mr. Moody appeared for the defence. In a statement read by Mr. Meredith accused stated that he was a rag and bottle dealer, 27 years of age. No evidence was called for the defence. His Honor directed the jury to disregard the second charge. The jury brought in a verdict of guilty, with a rider that accused was a case for medical observation and attention. Accused was remanded for sentence.
