HARBOUR BRIDGE NEEDED VIEWS OF RESIDENTS That the time had arrived when a quicker and more efficient means of approach to the city of Auckland was needed Mas the opinion expressed by members of the Brown's Bay Progressive Association in a resolution passed at the 19th annual meeting this week. The meeting emphasised its desire to assist in bringing about the erection of the proposed harbour bridge. Mr. E. Nyberg presided over an attendance of about 30 members. «

A plen was made to the Waitemata County Council to bring pressure to bear on the Auckland City Council and the Government for a harbour bridge. Satisfaction with the improvements carried out in the district during the year was expressed in the annual report and particular mention was made of the appointment of a Plunket nurse for the district. The urgent need for enlarging Progress Hall also was stressed, an early start with the work being expected this year. The financial statement showed , a surplus of assets over liabilities, of £ll6O. With the exception of Mr. R. C. Simmons, who did not seek re-election, last year's officers were re-elected. Mr. G. .Ross was elected to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Simmons' retirement.

The meeting was lator addressed by Mr. J. C. Ronnie, riding member on the Waitemata County Council, who explained the council's policy with regard to roads, footpaths and other facilities.
