WOMEN CRICKETERS
HEW ZEALAND TOURISTS . FIRST MATCH IN SYDNEY (Received January 27, 8.8 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 27 The New Zealand women cricketers' Brst match of their Australian tour against the New South Wales Juniors was abandoned as the result of torrential rain which fell in the afternoon, when the New Zealanders appeared to be assured of a win. The home team compiled 111. to which the New Zealanders replied with 82 for the loss of four wickets.
For New Zealand, D. Hatcher played a sparkling innings with shots all round the wicket. She was particularly strong on the leg side, where she hit most of her eight boundaries. Hatchevr and J. Hplmes added 60 runs for the second wicket, of which total Hatcher contributed 55. Details of the scores were as follows:
