CROWDS AT ROTORUA

ATTRACTIONS FOR VISITORS TENNIS TOURNAMENT POPULAR [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] ROTORUA, Monday Holiday crowds continue to throng into Rotorua, and with the weather still extremely hot and showing no sign of a change, traffic to all the sight-seeing attractions in the district is exceptionally heavy. The number of visitors to the Whakarewarewa thermal region kept the guides fully occupied this afternoon, and the preparation of the Maori hangi or cooking oven in readiness for its opening this evening was an unusual attraction for the majority of the visitors. There was a large attendance at the amateur athletic meeting, and also the tennis tournament, while the bowling and croquet greens in the Government Gardens were taxed to capacity throughout the day. There were also many swimmers at the Blue Baths. The main attraction to-night was the Maori concert provided by the Tuhourangi concert party at the Town Square, where a platform depicting a Maori wharf* had been erected in the centre of the ground.
