GOOD CHANCE FOR SIR HUGH

. The Hororata Bacine Club's meeting will be held to-day arid the useful fields should provide some interesting; contests. The single-pool system of bettiug will bo used. Lombard, Becky Direct. Hororata Handicap.—Sir Hugh, Studley Tloyal. Novice Stakes.—-Love 'Affair, Sunbeam. H. A. Knight Memorial Handicap. — . Wino Card, Paper Note bracket, Pelmet. Snowdon Trot.—Becky Direct, Lom- • bard. Sandown Handicap.—W in e Card, Double Gift. Acceptances:—

MAKING THEIR DEBUT HORSES AT HORORATA FINANCIERS AND TREASURER PROMISE . OF, IMPROVIDENT [by telegraph—own correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH. Friday Financiere, an acceptor for the Trial Plate at Hororata to-morrow, is a three-year-old filly by Paper Money from Corsetiere, by Solferino from Dame Strajtlace. Treasurer is a tbree-year-old gelding by Paper Money from Sweet Beauty, the. dam of Rebel Star and (Nottingham. Both were bred by their owner, Mr. G. Hall, and neither has.raced. Improvident is by Defoe from Misgovern. He cost Dr. M. G. Louisson 120 guineas in January, and will also be having his first race. Ho is a wellgrown two-year-old and big things are expected of him, but he lias not been hurried and is not likely to earn distinction until later in the season. Convivial who is to contest the Hororata Hack Handicap, has boon entered for the Tarnnuki Christmas meeting, which she attended last year. The Trial Stakes at Hororata is for two-year-olds., and upward who have not won a race exceeding £4O in value to the winner Thero are no winners in the race. The Novice Stakes is for three-year-olds and upward who have not won a race. There are some placegetters in this field, which, however, is of a very even class, and investors may have difficulty in selecting the favourite division The H. A. Knight Memorial Handicap will be run for the first time., A silver rose bowl, presented by Mrs. J. W. Woodhouse, a daughter, of the late Mr. Knight, will go to the winner. Argentic will be an interesting contestant, in view of his Auckland Cup engagement, but the distance may be too short for him Dictate would be favoured on a softer track. Rebel Chief won on the course two years ago and was narrowly beaten by Fiord last year, so he is evidently partial to the course and ho has been galloping very well. Pelmet enjoyed a short let-up after returning from Ashburton,: where she was unable to race owing to lameness, but sbe has worked well during the past week and should take a prominent part in her race. Wino, Riptide and HeloisO do not appeal, but Paper Note has to be seriously considered under her minimum impost. Her bracket-mate,, Wino Card, is also engaged for the Sandovvn Handicap, but a bracket will be in keen demand. Invoice has filled several minor places this season and has his chance to go one better over seven furlongs. TROTTING FIXTURES December 11—Rcefton Trotting Club. December 27—Ashburton Trotting Club.
