INJURY WHEN BATHING
DIVE INTO SHALLOW WATER [BY TK LKGIt A PIT —OWN COI! l", KS POX DKXT] GISBORNE, Tuesday A Tokomaru Bay cricketer, Mr. J. Tankard, was injured while bathing at Mata, whither the team had travelled to play a match. At the luncheon adjournment 31 r. Tankard, with other members of the team, went for a swim in the Mata Hirer. Apparently without taking notice of the depth of the water he dived into the river and struck the bottom with his head. He received a severe scalp wound and a cut on the forehead, and also was badly bruised on the chest. After being taken front the water Mr. Tankard was conveyed to Hexhaven Homestead, where his injuries were dressed, and was then despatched to the Te Puia Hospital. On his arrival there it was ascertained that the doctor was absent farther up the coast, and it was not until 8 p.m. that it was found that three stitdjet* ia tM head wound were necessary*
