POPULAR GIRL CONTEST
ROTORUA CAMPAIGN [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] ROTORUA, Thursday Tho Maori candidate, the well-known singer, Ana Hato. headed the poll in tho "popular girl" contest organised by the parishioners of the St. Michael's Catholic Church, which concluded with a dance at the Bite Hall last evening. The campaign was organised to provide a building fund for the parish and during the past few months considerable interest has been taken in it by the public. The placings were as follows: —Ana Hato, Maori candidate, 13,124 votes; Ella Rotorua candidate, Frances Ellis, Irish candidate, 7600.
