TAURANGA DEFENCE CLUB [j)Y TET.EG RAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Thursday The report. presented (o the annual meeting of the Tauranga Defence Rifle Club showed that last season had been very successful as regards local a/id outside competitions, and a high standard of shooting was maintained. Efforts were being made to secure a new range. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £lO. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan; vice-patron, Mr. L. R. RANGITAIKI CLUB [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Thursday The Ranpritaiki -Rifle Club fired the final competition for the club trophy recently, the conditions being: two shoots over the 500 yds range. In spite of a strong wind thore were some good scores. L. Davies scored 00 from scratch, and the president, Mr. Wilson, put on 05 off the rifle and W. Moore 04. The winner of the trophy was Davis, with a score of ISO. and R. Wilson was second with ISO. including handicap. The scores were as follows; Wilson. 48 17. Q—100; R. Bagle.v, 48, 11. 'JO— 100; J. Walker, 38, 12. 'JO—100; L. Davies, 48, 48, scr —0(>; W. Moore, 17, 17, scr—o4; L. Walker, 30, 10, 'JO —00; G. Penny, 46, 43, scr—Bo; V. Carter 37. 37, 15 —80. At the next shoot a competition for Mr. W. Moore's trophy will be fired at the 000 yds range. OTOROHANGA RECORDS [from OUII own correspondent] OTOROHANGA, Thursday Two range records were put up at the first shoot for the Hyde trophy at the range of the Otorohanza Defence Rifle Club. Southall and \i. Palmer both scored possibles over the ■jOOvds range. Other scores were:—H. J. O'Connor, 40, 46—02; E. Southall, 50, 30—SO; F. Hyde. 43, 45—88; J.
