Thursday Beautiful weather prevailed for the opening to-day of tho Royal Show, which will continue until Saturday. There are very large increases in the entries in the stock classes, particularly the horses. The animals represent the finest collection ever assembled on one ground in the Dominion. Thero are also exceptionally large entries in the Kennel Club's Show, for which the internationallyknown judge, Mr. G. Stedmau Ihomas, of the United States, has been brought to New Zealand. Tho show was officially opened this afternoon by the Governor-General, Viscount' Gahvay. Tho championship awards were as follows: — Horses. —Harness: J. N. Lowry (Hastings); reserve, H.
