HERRING FISHING
PLIGHT OF THE INDUSTRY APPEAL TO THE GOVERNMENT LONDON, Oct. 18 More than 1000 representatives of the herring fishing industry, including fishermen, Scots fisher girls, and the fishing ports, met members of Parliament at a mass meeting at Great Yarmouth. They appealed to the Government for funds to save the industry which they claimed was doomed by increased costs of production and subsidised foreign competition,. Clyde fishermen in supporting the Yarmouth appeal demand the abolition of the Herriug Industry Board. They claim that it has failed to obtain markets and that its restrictions are useless.
