CHURCH CHOIRS UNITE
FORMATION OF ASSOCIATION ANNUAL FESTIVALS PLANNED Representatives of 16 church choirs in Auckland met at dinner on Monday night and decided to form an Auckland Provincial Church Choirs' Association. The primary object will be to promote an annual festival for competition among the choirs in the presentation of church music, concluding with a recital by the massed choirs and individual items by the winning choirs of the different grades. The immediate establishment of a central library of exchange was agreed upon to enable choirs to borrow music at a nominal fee. A committee was elected to draw up tentative rules and programmes for presentation to a general meeting of the association in February, when arrangements will be completed for the first festival to be held next June. Mr. Albert Bryant was appointed chairman of the committee, and Mr. W. H. Simpson secretary. The following committee was elected:—The Rev. Jasper Calder and Messrs. L. A. Eady, A. Windsor, W. Edmondson and L. Honeycombe.
