TROUT FISHING
EOTORUA AND TAUPO PROSPECTS FOR OPENING AN OPTIMISTIC FORECAST [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] "WELLINGTON, Tuesday Prospects for the opening of the trout fishing season in the Rotorua and Taupo districts were discussed in an interview to-day by the Minister of Internal Affairs, tho Hon. W. E. Parry, who said that reports from officials iu the thermal region suggested that the. fish had como on splendidly and that the streams and channels appeared to be well stocked with good-sized and well-conditioned trout.
"Tho indications are that largo fishing parties will bo visiting ltotorua and Taupo when the season opens on November 1," Mr. Parry said. "Accommodation is often overtaxed during the holiday period and keen anglers seem anxious to enjoy their sport quietly at tho start of tho season."
Tho Minister added that for tho benefit of overseas anglers he was having notice boards posted in various parts of tho district calling attention to the various regulations and conditions attached to fishing licences. Many anglers were not aware that separate licences were required for the Rotorua and Taupo areas and that a general licence to fish in all acclimatisation districts was not valid for the thermal regions. GOOD BAGS REPORTED ARAPUNI LAKE AND WAIHOU [rnosi OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Tuesday Fishing with spin ling gear on the Arapuni Lake, Mr. E. Bell, of Otorolianga, caught five trout ranging from 4ilb. to 6jlb. The Waihou River continues to provide good sport, _ and catches of up to six fish, including a four-pounder, have been reported.
