Charles Alfred Remmers, carpenter and labourer, aged 49, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Reed to four years' imprisonment with hard labour. The Crown prosecutor, Mr. W. H. Cunningham, called 16 witnesses, whoso evidence was concluded yesterday. Tho accused conducted his own defence and addressed tho jury for 40 minutes. "What is worse, you led your son into it by getting him to assist you."
