THE NATIONAL PARTY REMUERA COMMITTEE FIRST FUNCTION OF SERIES Tho National Party's colours of red, white and blue were effectively incorporated in the decorations at tho Rialto ballroom last night when the first ball held by the Reiinicra committee of the party took place there. A large placard bearing the words "Welcome" in crimson and silver letters was supended from the ceiling at the entrance and the supper tables, which were set out in the lounge downstairs, were attractively decorated with alternate tall and low bowls of mixed red, white and blue flowers. The ballroom was festooned with balloons and streamers, while bowls of arum lilies and azaleas were placed at the far end. v The guests were received by the president of the committee, Miss P. H. King, who, in a brief speech, explained that the object of the ball, which was the first of a series of social functions, was to bring the younger people into active co-operation with the committee. She extended a special welcome to Mrs. P. Endean, wife of the local member, aud read a telegram from Mr. Endean, who,was unable to be present. A bouquet of flowers was presented to Mrs. Endean, who was wearing a frock of cinnamon lace and a brown fur wrap. Miss "King was in a frock of cream taffetas patterned with flowers.
