FARM HAND PLEADS GUILTY DISCOVERY OF MISSING BOAT A charge of stealing a dinghy valued at £l2 10s in March, 1932, was preferred against Philip Owen Thwaites, farm hand (Mr. Aekins), in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M. Andrew Frederick Harris, the owner of the dinghy, gave evidence that he missed the boat from its anchorage in the Manukau Harbour, and recently found it for sale in a wrecker's yard, damaged beyond repair. Evidence was also given by a witness who had bought the dinghy from accused, and by the owner of the wrecking firm. Accused, in evidence, said that he found the boat on the beach, full of water. He had not reported the discovery to the police, or advertised it. Accused, after pleading guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Mr. Aekins, asking for bail, said that accused was a married man, with three young children. 'Bail, in accused's own recognisance, was fixed at £SO.
