TRAM FARE UNPAID
ATTEMPT AT EVASION WOMAN TO PAY COSTS An attempt to evade payment of the tram fare for a journey between Remuera and Newmarket was admitted by a married woman in the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. It- was stated that defendant tendered as fare a special one-day travel ticket, which entitled the holder to ten one section rides for Is, but which could be used only on the day of issue. She stated that the ticket had been bought th(? same day, but it did not tally with tho numbers of the tickets issued, and, on checking, it was found to have been bought two months previously. Defendant was ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, amounting to £1 0s 6d.
