FANCY DRESS BALL
CHILDREN ENTERTAINED The annual fancy dress ball of the Wliau Valley School, Whangarei, held on Friday evening in the Town Hall, was a most successful function. The grand march was a colourful scene, costumes of every conceivable hue and kind being worn. The hall was decorated with light and dark blue streamers, the school colours. in the first part of the evening a full programme of dances for the children was carried out. The outstanding item was a Greek dance performed by the girls of standards three and four. The Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, complimented the committee and parents on the success of the function. The chairman of the committee, Mr. M. W. Porter, thanked all who had helped to make the ball such a success, specially mentioning tho headmaster, Mr. T. W. Bowman, and the teachers. As a result of the function approximately £;3O had been raised.
Miss D. Lupton was tho pianist, and Mr. K. Hayr was in charge of tho floor arrangements.
