GARDEN LOVERS
WAITEMATA SOCIETY The members' points competition of the Waitcmata Horticultural Society, held in the returned soldiers' hall at Birkenhead, resulted as follows:-—Mrs. 10. A. Campbell and Miss J. Gcddes, 10 points; Mesdames A. R. Sliutes, K. R. Taylor, Crombio, C. M. Burton, J Prickett, Misses It. . Wilson, M. E. Sliutes, Mr. W. J. Wernham, 9 points; Mesdames A. Oldbury, A. E. H. Harrison, (J. Williams, J. M. Frith, A. Sateheli, F. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Lcefe, 8 points; Mesdames .Johnson, J. Barrott, and Miss Collins, 7 points. The award for the best arranged bowl of spring flowers was given to Miss J. Geddes, Mrs. A. Oldbury being second. An instructive talk on vegetable culture was given by Mr. 1 George Mills. Arrangements were finalised for flower and produce stalls to be* conducted by the society for the kindergarten fair at Northeote. The prizes won at the spring showwere presented by Mrs. F. G. Blackwell. The Native Flora Cup was presented to Mr. A E. Harding; tlm Fanners Cup to Mr. W. G. Hoylo, of Papatoetoe, for champion daffodils; a miniature cup to Mr. J. H. Braithwaite, and the Ryder Medal to Master Frank Blaekwell for amateur narcissi.
