PONSONBY BOYS' BAND
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS EX-MEMBERS ATTEND DANCE To celebrate the 21st anniversary of the formation of the Ponsonby Bovs' Bra ss Band, a dance was held in the Drill Hall, Blake Street, last evening. The guests included ex-members of the band, their wives and friends. The largo hall had been effectively hung with coloured streamers and bunches of gay balloons.
For the purpose of training boys for a musical career, the band was formed in 1916 and since then over 600 boys have been trained and over 100 are now in training. The members have also given their services at many charity functions, hospitals and other deserving causes. The guests were welcomed by the bandmaster, Mr. S. Martin, who extended a special greeting to Mr. F. G. Lawn, of Woodville, who was bandmaster for 10 years and who is visiting Auckland for the anniversary celebrations.

Johnston, bottle green crepe; Mrs. R. W. Wheeler, midnight blue cire satin; Mrs. R. Francis, mulberry lace; Mrs. J. Austin, deep wistaria crepe; Mrs. E. Bridgens, black lace; Mrs. H. Lynne, maroon and white floral silk; M rs. C. Welson, pale green crepe and silver lame; Mrs. R. Tarbuck, maroon cloquc; Mrs. Walton Christiansen, lilac organdie; Miss J. Phillips, black satin; Miss V. Francis, dafl'odil taffetas; Miss N. Austin, pale green net. Messrs. R. Francis (chairman), S. Fullerton, B. Lvnn, .1. Austin, J. Smith, H. Davies, B. Hughes, H.
