BEST SENIOR PLAYER AWARD TO W. TITTLETON SUPPORT FOR TRANSFER FEE The announcement that a special trophy for tho season's outstanding senior grade player had been awarded to W. Titileton (Richmond) was made at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League. The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said the award was made by the donor, Mr. J. F. W. Dickson.
It' was derided to hold a conference on • October 27 to deal with suggestions for the improvement of the organisation of the game ] for next season. Delegates to the conference j will represent the junior management com-1 mittee, two delegates from each junior Club. | and the Senior Clubs' Officers' Association. : The New Zealand Rugby League advised j tbßt no finality had been reached regarding i the suggested conference of referees. The j >*ew Zealand Referees' Association, however, I recommended that one of its representatives should attend important interprovincial matches in order to bring about uniformity in the interpretation of the rules. It was decided to support the proposal to fix a transfer fee of £25 for players going from one league to another. The rule is intended to prevent a strong league taking players from weaker centres. The donors of the Stormont Shield were thanked for their generosity in presenting a pet of medals with the trophy won by Marist, which team was congratulated on its success. The chairman stated that the Max Jaffe Cup for charity would be competed for at next Saturday's gala at Carlaw Park. . The Referees' Association and Appointments' Board were thanked for services rendered during the season. It "was decided to place on record the services of Mr. W.' E. Simpson, secretary of the Referees' Association, who is transferring to Wellington. _ . The following fixtures were arranged for Match. Auckland v. Maoris, Carlaw Park l*.o. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. T. Evans.
