CONDITION OF PORTAGE ROAD
Sir, —I read with interest the letter written by Mr. F. J. Andrew, relating to the condition of Portage Road, Otnhuhu. While, he is to be commended on his letter, I do not think he has put enough emphasis on the state of that part from the station to the Great South Road. Have any of the council members traversed that road in wet weather? This road, where quite a number of people including myself have to brave it every morning to catch a train to work, is really one of the worst I have seen in any suburb. I have seen cars trying to rattle over the rocks and puddles and have wondered why the engines have not fallen through. I hope the council will rectify this matter. Surely they could find some means of dividing the road into sections so that pedestrians and cattle can have a separate means of travel. Hater of Duck Ponds.
