"WANGANUI, Monday Although inquiries were continued today bv the Wanganui police with the utmost vigour, no fresh developments have occurred in connection with the assault made on Mrs. I na Thompson, aged 25, on a footpath on Anzac Parade early on Sunday morning.
Mrs. Thompson is still in a state of semi-consciousness in the Wanganui Public Hospital suffering from the effects of at least five blows on the head administered by some heavy blunt weapon. Her injuries consist of a fractured skull, scalp wounds and an injury to the left hand. Her condition is showing a slight improvement. Until Mrs. Thompson regains consciousness sufficiently to tell a connected story the police will have little of a concrete nature to work on.
