WORKERS' EDUCATION
A GRANT DECLINED MANUFACTURERS' DECISION The opinion that no contribution should be made to the Workers' Educational Association was expressed by tho chairman, Mr. F. N. Ambler, at a meeting of the general committee of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association yesterday. Mr. Ambler said that while the Workers' Educational ' Association did good work, he did not think manufacturers were in a position to support appeals nttf, directly concerned with industry. Mr. J. A. C. Alluin said education must assist manufacturers as well as others, and he thought the grant of £4 12s 6d made last year doiild bo repented. Tho chairman mentioned that the association this year had a subsidy from the Government, and it was decided to inform it that while the manufacturers recognised its good work, they felt that a grant could not be made this year.
