LIVELY WRESTLING

VICTORY FOR CHRISTY TWO FALLS AGAINST ONE WESCOATT'S ROUGH TACTICS Fully roused by tho rough and illegal tactics used by "Rusty" Wescoatt, tho crowd roared its approval when Vic. Christy, after a violent exchange of hcadlock throws, dumps, drop-kicks and jolts, pressed his opponent's shoulders to tho mat for tho deciding fall in a professional heavy-weight wrestling contest staged at tho Town Hall last evening. Tho bout, which was a lively one, attracted only a fair attendance 'of spectators. 1 The first fall wont to Christy in the third round. After being jolted kicked in the face while imprisoned iif a hcadlock, he became thoroughly nettled, rushed, Wescoatt and, with powerful forearm punches paved the way for a fall with a press. Wescoatt emerged from his corner in a defiant mood in the fourth round, and dazed Christy with jolts, dumps and a drop-kick before taking a fall. Both men's weights were announced at 16st. 71b. The referee was Mr. J. McLean. Wescoatt Aggressive Vigorous and comparatively clean wrestling characterised tho opening round, Wescoatt being constantly on top of his opponent and punishing him with powerful head scissors and welltimed butts.' Tho second round opened in lively fashion. Rolled in headlocks, Wescoatt stopped Christy's • aggression with a butt and landed several jolts above his opponent's heart. He kept Christy retreating and seemed within an ace of securing a fall on two occasions. Cautioned for using his knee to his opponent's face at the start of the third round, Wescoatt persisted with these tactics. Christy finally rebelled against his opponent's rough methods* and felled him three times with jolts before taking a fall. Wescoatt staged a good recovery in the fourth and Christy doubled _up under a barrage of punches, dro|)-kicks and butts. He was an easy victim for a press. Imprisoned in Ropes . There was a roar of laughter in the j fifth when Christy scissored Wescoatt s head between tho top ropes and left him dangling until ho was released by | the referee. Backing into a corner, Wescoatt climbed the ropes defensively, but Christy again trapped his opponent by twisting Wescoatt's feet around the top rope and leaving him straddled and helpless. Released by the referee, \\escoatt flopped to the mat and glared at Christy in a reproachful manner. The sixth round provided a thrilling climax, the wrestlers pummelling each other until Christy got in three telling jolts and subdued his opponent. Amateur Preliminaries
