TABLE TENNIS PLAYERS
HUNGARIAN CHAMPIONS ARRIVAL BY AWATEA [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Monday To make a three weeks' tour of the Dominion, the Hungarian table tennis players, Istvan Kelen and Miklos Szabados, arrived from Sydney to-day by the Awatea. Both have achieved world-wide fame by their skill at the game and have been the holders of numerous championships. They will leave for Dunedin to-night. From New Zealand the pair will return to Australia and thence to London, via the United States.
The visitors were given a reception by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, in his rooms at Parliament Buildings this afternoon. Also present were a large number of representatives of the New Zealand Table Tennis Association and Mr. J. W. Heenan, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs. Mr. Parry wished the players every success during their visit and said they would do a great deal for the sport of table tennis in this country. • M. Szabados, in the name of his country, thanked the Minister for his welcome, and said they were here to help the game all they knew. "We did not come here to beat New Zealand players," M. Kelen said. "We have come here to do our best for them. Sport comes first, and we promise you we will do our best for you."
