POST OFFICE FACILITIES ROAD TO BOWENTOWN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent! - "WAIHI, "Wednesday The Waihi Chamber of Commerce expressed agreement with the Coromandel chamber in its opposition to the proposed scheme of amalgamation of counties. Overcrowding of the public space Waihi Post Office on pension days was the subject of a letter from the Post-master-General, the Hon. F. Jones, to the member for Thames, Mr. J. Thorn, who sent a copy of the letter to tho\ * chamber. The Minister said that acheck made recently showed that the" average delay experienced by persons transacting business in the office was two and a-lialf minutes. The present; building provided more than sufficient; room for normal requirements and tional accommodation to meet special* circumstances was not considered neces-', sary. It was decided to thank Mr: * Thorn for his efforts to improve the post office facilities in Waihi. The need for a proper road to Bowen- „ town, a popular seaside resort, was mentioned by the chairman, Mr. _Av. C. Thomas, who said tho best thing, to do seemed to be to write to thoMinister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry. Steel's Road had been seen and a plan had been expected to_ bo ready for the meeting, but_ unfor - tunately it was not. It was decided approach the authorities.
