ASSOCIATION GAME
PLAYERS FROM NAVY INCLUSION IN CLUB TEAMS The inclusion of Navy players in club teams was discussed by the control board of the Auckland Football Association at its meeting last evening. It was pointed out that a request had been made by the naval authorities two seasons ago that Navy players not permanently stationed at tho base should not be allowed to play for club teams. This request had been supported by the senior division committee and the board had then decided to stop a practice which was creating unfair competition and precluding local players from obtaining regular games. , Several members stressed the value of the tuition which local players received from the more experienced Xavy players. It was agreed, however, that as (he ships of the squadron weru only in port for certain periods during the season, those clubs which played Navy men created a false impression of their strength. The members of the senior division present were unanimous that the previous decision should be adhered to and the board agreed to this suggestion. Advice was received from the naval authorities that tho contest for (he. Colo Cup. presented for inter-ship competition by Mr. W. Cole, could be commenced immediately. It was decided to stage the games at BJandford Park as follows: —September 11, semifinal: IT.M.S. Achilles v. H.M.B. Leander. September IS, final: IT.M.S. Philomel (holder) v. winner of previous game.
