GAMING CHARGES
SEVEN MEN PROSECUTED FINES OF £1 EACH IMPOSED Seven men appeared before Mr. W. 11. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday , charged with being found in common gaming houses. All pleaded guilty. Four of the men, Wong .Kim, gardener, aged 65, Ah See, gardener, aged 48, Tony Goverkc, labourer, aged 28, and William Carlton Hooper, labourer, aged 30, were charged with being found, on Tuesday, in a common gaming house at 65 Grey's Avenue. Charles Edward Vazey, boot repairer, aged 54, Alexander Cathcart, stone mason, aged 45, and Alexander John Bowdcn, blacksmith,' aged 39, wero charged with being found', on Tuesday, in a common gaining house at 57 Grey's Avenue.
The magistrate fined each man £l, in default three days' imprisonment. Joe Boftg, gardener, aged 38, who was charged with using premises which he occupied at 65 Grey's Avenue as a common gaming house on August 19, was remanded to appear on Saturday. A remand-to the same date was granted in the case of Shin Wing, fruiterer, aged 45, who was charged with using premises which he occupied at 57 Grey's Avenue as a. common gaming house on August 20. Bong and Wing were represented by Mr. Giesen.
