DON COSSACK CHOIR
SEASON IN AUCKLAND M'" ~~ Variety and novelty enhance the appeal of General Platoff's famous Don Cossack Choir, which will present its first programme in Auckland at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday night, and will continue its season during the following week. The choir, which comprises more than 130 voices, possesses an amazing range of tone, which will be demonstrated in songs ranging from simple folk ditties to hymns of deep spiritual significance, and including lullabies and stirring martial songs. Singing dances are another feature, and are doubly effective in melody and action, while the artistic costumes worn add the requisite touch of atmosphere. An outstanding part of the programme is the dancing, which expresses the traditions of the Cossack race and is performed by brilliant and experienced artists. Booking arrangements for the season are advertised.
