FARMERS' PROTESTS DEPUTATION TO MINISTER RELEASE OF REPORT URGED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRKSS ASSOCIATION*] IXVERCARG ILL, Wednesday Dissatisfaction with the recentlyannounced guaranteed prices for dairy produce was expressed in vigorous terms at a mass meeting to-day of Southland dairy factory suppliers representative of 93 per cent of the dairy produce output of the province. Over 200 were present. In numerous addresses it was declared that the guaranteed price was totally inadequate in view of the greatly-increased costs resulting from recent legislation, and the Government was accused of a breach of faith with the dairy farmers. The principal resolution carried read: —"This meeting being unanimous that the guaranteed price fixed by the Government is most unsatisfactory, a committee consisting of two delegates appointed by the Farmers' Union and other delegates appointed by this meeting be appointed to submit direct representations to the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. "VV. Nash, and confer with the compensated price campaign committee with the viciv to taking any further action that may bo considered necessary."

Four delegates were appointed to travel to Wellington with the Farmers' Union representatives next week, and it was stated that a similar meeting at Duucdin on Friday would probably appoint representatives to join the Southland delegation.

The meeting decided to request the Government to release the report of the Price Fixation Committee, and in further discussions expressed dissatisfaction with the system of appointment of the committee, which it was claimed should include representatives elected by the industry. PALMERSTON NORTH, Wednesday The Manawatu provincial executive of the Farmers' Union to-day carried a resolution describing the new guaranteed prices for dairy produce as totally inadequate to cover costs of production, and as a betrayal of the industry. It was decided to co-operate with all sections of the industry in opposition to the impositions being placed upon it. Mr. S. J. E. Closey, organiser of the compensated price campaign, submitted a report which showed that lie had addressed 10S.000 farmers in all ..parts of New Zealand, with fewer than ten dissenting from the scheme. A recommendation was carried asking the Dominion executive to consider the pr.ee pattern set out by Mr. Closcv with the object of extending the campaign to commercial and business interests,
