ACTION AT CENOTAPH

August 30 A naval pensioner, James Joyce, aged 53, was charged in connection with his action in lying down at the Cenotaph yesterday and removing his wooden leg. He denied that he had insulted the Cenotaph. He said he had been refused a hearing by the Admiralty and accordingly had made a demonstration. An official of the Ministry of Pensions admitted that Joyce had a grievance which he promised should be investigated and the man was discharged.
