MOUNT EDEN CLUB SUCCESSFUL PAST SEASON Two well-known officials of the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club, Messrs. H. Cordes, the honorary treasurer for 19 years, and J. Foy, a delegate and instructor for several years,' were elected life members afc the club's annual meeting last night. The Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. T. Mcwho presided, presented Messrs. E. H. Potter, president of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association,, and «. M. Sheffield, the chairman of that body for several years, with life members' badges of the centre. Auckland championship msdals were also presented by Mr. McXab to !P. Hanan, 50yds, lOO.vds, 220vds and 440 yds men's free-style titles; W. Johnson, SSOyds and one mile men's free-style titles; Miss J. Wehster, 220 yds ladies' breastslroke title: G. Berry, men's diving, and L. Meeks, tiny-tot boys' champjonship. Mr. McNab congratulated the club upon its 11 Auckland championship successes last season. i The annual report and balance-sheet, a summary of which appeared in the Heralk yesterday, were adopted. The club's gratitude to tho Mount Eden, Borough Council for installing a modern filtration plant was expressed by Mr. H. W. Moore. The water, he said, was guaranteed to be absolutely pur?, and parents need have no fear in sending their children to the baths for swimming lessons. OTAHUHU CLUB PRESENTATION OF PRIZES Prizes won last season by members of the Otahuhii Amateur Swimming Club were presented at a dinner by the chairman of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, Mr. T. C. HobbsJones. Tho president of tho Otahuhu Club. Mr. F. W. Grey, occupied tho chair, and among the guests were the Mayor, Mr s . 0. ■ it. Petrie, M.P., Mr. H. T. Clements, patron, and representatives of other clubs. Special mention of the performances of - Miss Iv. Grey was made by Mr. Hobbs : Jones when presenting her with medals for winning the 100 yards ladies' championship ofAuckland and the 100 yards and 220 yards intermediate -girls' titles. He said it was possible that she would represent Npw Zealand at tho British Empire Games in Sydney next February.

Trophies for club championships were handed to the following:—Tiny tots: "Randall Browne (boys), Dorothy Arnold (girls); runner-up, Betty Owens. Juniors: Eileen King (girls), Allan Box (boys); runner-up, Travis King. "Op to 15 years: Allan Box. Intermediates: Geoffrey Fug!e. Seniors: Miss Lewis Grey (ladies), D. Jury (men). Distance events: L. Dalton, 220yd<i, «140 yds and SSOyds. Tamaki Cup, trophy for winner of river race of l l / 2 miles: L. Dalton. Trophy for first lady in river race: Miss M. Leydon.

Books were presented to Betty Owens, Dorothy Arnold, Joyco Way and Hazel Johnson for winning the tiny tot girls' relay championship at a carnival held by the Auckland Centre. &
