RAXES AT ELLERSLIE
COLLECTION IMPROVES An improved rate collection of both current rates and arrears was reported last night at the Ellerslie Town Board meeting. In a statement of rates paid by the end of the discount period the town clerk, iMr. J. W. Carr, showed that £4292 had been collected of the £7072 current general and special rates struck, representing 60.69 per cent, as against 58 per cent last year. Of the outstanding arrears, £3200, the sum of £llß3 had been received, equivalent to .37 per cent. The collection at the corresponding date last year was 30 per cent. The statement showed that there had been a progressive increase in receipts of rates over the past three years.
