INCREASE IN AUGUST LOWER FIGURES FOR YEAR The highest figures for one mouth since July last year were recorded for petitions in bankruptcy in Auckland during August, when seven petitions were filed. Of that number one was on the application of creditors. The official assignee in Auckland was also appointed provisional liquidator of a company during August. Only two petitions wore filed in July this year and the number was four in August last year. The total for the eight months of this year was 18, against 23 for the corresponding period last year. The petitioners last month represented a wide variety of occupations. Among them were a builder, a cycle dealer, a retired baker, a manufacturer, a sales engineer, a hairdresser and a caterer.
