SHOW BUILDING
Sir, —I agree with "Citizen," it is about time this city woko up. Our City Council seem to think more about cleaning weeds l'rom vacant lots and footpaths. Instead of wasting the public money on putting another road, which nobody wants, through the Domain, why don't they vigorously take up this idea and so do a double job. Jt would clean up Grey's Avenue and supply the need for a building such as that described in the HkuaM) on August 21. We have no suitable building for holding agricultural shows, motor shows, olympic sports, etc. Auckland is the largest city in the Dominion, and its Town Hall and other public buildings are behind Wellington, Christchurch or Dunedin. Our members of. Parliament go down to Wellington and agree to the spending of millions in Wellington and allow the Southern members to <jet over them as regards public buildings, both Government and municipal. If this goes on much longer, Auckland will become a suburb of Wellington. I suggest that a citizens' committee should be formed and tha-t a deputation should wait on Sir Ernest Davis, who, thank goodness, has some vision, and ask him to persuade the City Council to get busy and start this job now. It is long overdue and the site proposed is an excellent one. The citizens owe the Herald a debt of gratittide for publishing the article referred to. Citizkx No. 2.
