VON LUCKNER'S VISIT

Sir, —Von Luckner's proposed visit to New Zealand has aroused a protest from a small part of the community, but I am sure the majority will say "Welcome to a brave sailor, an honourable man and a good sport." In fact, the Count must be a remarkable man if these few people think he is powerful enough to turn New Zealand into a Nazi country. We are well satisfied with what we have. The Count's exploits during the war days were wonderful and if he had been a Briton he would have besn our hero, but as he is German he is bad. A man must be judged by his deeds, not his country. When the Count arrives 1 hope to be one of those to say "welcome." G. E. OVKHBUHY.
