PLAQUE ON STEAMER
BREMEN COAT OF ARMS GERMAN SHIP GOSLAR % A plaque depicting the arms of the city of Bremen, at which port she is registered, is carried on the bows of the North German Lloyd steamer Goslar, which arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon froni New Orleans. It is a small red shield bearing a white key. Many German ships now carrying on their bows the coat i)f arms of the city in which they are [registered. On the recent visit oft the HamburgAmerika Line steamer Gera to Auckland it was noticed that the coat of arms of Hamburg was 011 her bows. She also flew a small flag with the same device on the jack staff forward. This has, in some instances, given place to the naval custom of flying the national flag at the bows, a practice which is common among Germa.ll ships.
