Dr. R. J. McGill, of Dunedin, and formerly of the Auckland Hospital, has been appointed house physician tg the dean of Brompton Hospital for Diseases of the Chest, London.
Squadron-Leader L. M. Isi.tt, chief staff officer for personnel on the Air Headquarters Staff of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, is visiting Auckland, and is at the Central. Hotel.
Mr. F. A. Sandall, who lately completed a course at the School of Librarianship, University of London, has been appointed acting-assistant librarian at Canterbury University College.
Sir Carrick Robertson and Dr. J. Hardie Neil left for Wellington by the limited express last niszht to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand division of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Mr. David Brown, manager for W. H. Grove and Sons, Limited, at Rarotonca, has been elected unopposed as the European member of the Rarotonga Island Council in place of Mr. H. Shearman, who did not seek re-election.
Mr. E. B. Davies, of Wellington, who has been for some time at the Macaulay Institute for Soil Research, Aberdeen, has obtained the degree of doctor of philosophy at Aberdeen University. He is to return to New Zealand shortly.
Mr. E. L. Rutledge. general manager in New Zealand for the Fox Film Corporation (Australasia), Limited, arrived by the limited express from Wellington yesterday morning. He is accompanied by Mr. W. A. Toomey. branch manager in Wellington, and they are at the Grand Hotel.
