LOUIS-FAER CONTEST TRAINING CAMP ACTIVITIES SCHMELING SEEKS A MATCH (Received August 20, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 28 The odds against Tommy Farr, Welsh heavy-weight boxer, in his match against .Toe Louis on Monday, are tending to shorten owing to a reported substantial backing from England, also on comments by his doctor on Thursday. He and Louis are working out lightly. Farr fell after a blow from a sparring partner, but his manager claims that he merely tripped. At his camp at Longbranch, New Jersey, to-day, Farr heavily punished three sparring partners in four rounds. Ho will take light exorcises to-morrow. At Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Louis had four fast rounds with two bparring partners. Ho will rest tomorrow. Max Schmoling announces that he is issuing an ultimatum to tho promoter, Mr. Jacobs,, that unless ho matches him with the winner of the Louis-Farr contest for a bout in October on terms of 30 per cent of the receipts, ho will start a campaign of bouts in the United States and Europe unsponsored by Mr. Jacobs with the intention of exhausting the available supply of opponents for Louis.
