FATAL INJURIES
PEDESTRIAN KILLED
STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT AT PONSONBY Fatal head injuries were received by a labourer, Mr. William Millar Stewart, aged 54, of 54 Brown Street, Ponsonbv, when ho was knocked down by a motor-car near the Regal Iheatre in Ponsonbv Road at about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. Mr. Stewart was a married man with four children and was employed by the Auckland Harbour Board.
While he was attempting to cross the road Mr. Stewart was struck by a taxi driven by Mr. William Albert Edward Parris, of Seymour Street, Ponsonby. A St. .John ambulance nas called to take him to the Auckland Hospital, where he died two hours after admission. An inquest will be opened before the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, this morning. FALLS FROM BICYCLES ONE RESULTS IN DEATH HEAD STRIKES ROADWAY BROKEN FORKS CAUSE MISHAP Two cycling accidents, one of them fatal, occurred within half an hour of each other in the Ellerslie and Epsom districts between 5 p.m. and 6 P-™-on Saturday night. The victim if the fatal accident -vyas Mr. E. G. Guilford, aged about 50, a gardener at the Institute of Notre Dame Des Missions, 40 Main Highway, P^llerslic. Mr Guilford was cycling down Campbell Road toward Whitianga Road, at One Tree Hill, about 5.30 p.m., when he was seen to fall from his machine and strike his head on the roadway. Suffering from severe head injuries, he was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His death occurred two hours after he was admitted.
The second mishap occurred at the corner of Gladwin Road and Manukau Road shortly after five o'clock. A newspaper runner. Mr Noel Jeff Fletcher, aged 26, married, of 22 Sel'.vvn Street, Onehunga, was delivering papers on his bicycle when the forks broke and he was hurled to the ground. He was attended bj* Dr. C. J. A. Griffin, of Manukau Road, and then sent to the hospital. Mr. Fletcher was suffering from concussion, but his condition last night was reported as not serious.
COLLISION IN GORGE
MOTOR. CYCLIST'S FATE TRUCK MET ON A BEND [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Sunday When his motor-cycle collided with a motor-truck halfway through the Ngahaiuranga Gorge yesterday afternoon, Mr. Daniel McAuleyj of Johnsonville, a married man with six children, received severe head injuries from which he died before the arrival of the ambulance. He was travelling toward Johnson vi'lle, the truck being driven in the opposite direction. The accident occurred at a bad bend.
