HARRIER RACING

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS PROMISING FORM SHOWN The Auckland provincial junior harrier championships were held over a 4s-miles course at Birkenhead on Saturday. A large and enthusiastic field took part, a number of tho competitors showing _ excellent promise. Tho individual title was won easily by N. Ambler, Calliope, who had over two minutes to spare from E. L. Haydon, Technical. Lynndalo won the- teams' rate. .From a brisk start, Haydon took charge with Ambler in a handy position. When tho open country was reached N. Ambler wont to the front and steadily increased his load to win oventually by over two minutes. Tho Lynndalo Club's team displayed splendid team-work, securing fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places, to win the teams' event by 17 points, Calliope being second. Following were the results:— Individual Championship.—N. Ambler (Calliope), 22m Gls, 1; E. L. Haydon (Technical), 24m sf>s, 2; N. Short (Calliope), 24m 58s, 3; T. Moffett (Lynndale), 25m 225, 4; L. BAPTIST CLUB'S EVENT The Baptist Harrier Club held a run from tho rcsidenco of Mr. W. A. Kendon. There were threo packs, led by T. Turloy, P. Kendon and W. Fountain, the slow pack including several new runners. Tho results of tho runs-in wore as follows: — « Fast Pack.—V. Connell, 1; T. Turloy, 2; F. Grecnman. 3. Intermediate.—P. Kendon and S. Spencer, dcad-heat, 1. Slow Pack.—E. Taylor, 1; R. Kendon, 2; A. Pollock, 3. PRESBYTERIAN CLUB Mombors of the Presbyterian Harrier Club ran from tho residence of Mr. A. Odlin, Mountain Road. Tho three packs ran through tho Mount Eden and Ono Tree Hill districts and maintained a fast pace. In tho racing pack, Noil, Swinton and Goudio showed to advantage. WELLINGTON COMPETITIONS [BY TELEGRAPn—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Sunday With good concerted teamwork,, tho Scottish Club yesterday won both tho A and B grado Wellington cross-country championships over a course of 0% miles at Lyall Bay, and retained tho Whyto-Mackay Shield and W. Ingram Cup. Tho Scottish Club filled tho first four places in tho B grade and two of tho first four in tho A grado. A largo number of runnors competed. Both individual titles woro won fairly easily, G C. Prossor (Brooklyn), 37m 30s, retaining the A grado, and F. B. Silvor (Scottish), 30m 4Gs, winning tho B grado. CONTEST AT CHRISTCHURCH [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday Tho cross-country championship of Canterbury was decided ovor a six and a-quarter milo course at Cashmere yesterday aftornoon and resulted:—R. J. Rogers (University), 1; W. Kennedy (Christchurch), 2; D. 11. Pannoil (Christchurch), 3; D. 11. Adamson (University), 4; R. E. Taylor (South Canterbury), 5 Won by 200 yards. Rogers was tho titleholder last year. His tinio was 38m 41s.
