TOWN'S FIRST WHITE CHILD PRESENTATION OF PHOTOGRAPH [from our own correspondent! HAMILTON, Sunday A photograph of the late Mr. Walter Nairn, the first white child born in Hamilton, was received by the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, on behalf of the town at a gathering in the council chambers yesterday, attended by members of the Fourth Waikato Associaiton and the Waikato Early Settlers' Association. Mr. Nairn was born on May 4, 1865, in a house situated at the corner of Bridge Street and River Road, Hamilton. His death occurred in 1918, but the first white child born on a military farm in the Waikato, Mr. P. Crosby, is still prospecting in the Murcbison district, and it is his declared intention to return to Hamilton "when he strikes it rich."

In commenting 011 the revival of interest in tho early history of the Waikato, Mr. Fow said he looked forward to the establishment of an old settlers' museum in Hamilton.
