APPOINTING AUDITOR
MEETING WITHOUT POWER • EFFECT OF RECENT DEATH [BY TELKCRAPH—OWN /_ CORRESPOXDEN"TI PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday On account of the death of the company's auditor within 14 days of the annual meeting shareholders of the Kairanga Dairy Company at the annual meeting found themselves unable to appoint another. Mr. G. Tremaine, for the company's " solicitors, explained that 14 days' notice had to be given to the secretary of any motion to change the auditor and the secretary had to give seven days' notice to the auditor then serving and to the shareholders. Those conditions had not been complied with. Mr. Tremaine pointed out that tho only time at which an auditor could be appointed by shareholders was at tho annual general meeting. The best method would be for the company to pass a resolution requesting the chairman of directors 1 to approach the registrar of companies asking him to appoint an auditor, a name being recommended. The meeting followed this course.
