The trav*eller commenced her , journey from Innsbruck and from there travelled via tho Brenner Pass to the Italian frontier. On arrival at the frontier, however, she was told that in spite of her possession of a British passport, she could stay in Italy for only two hours, so she retraced her steps without visiting tho qp tin try.' Miss Herbert Smith gave interested accounts Olf her impressions of tho Austrian people on route, and said she found them exceedingly friendly toward British visitors. The Austrian iltlls were fascinating and colourful, although not always up-to-date, and the village churches were particularly attractive, showing as they all did, some influence of tho previous Turkish occupation.
