STOREMAN CHARGED Found in a city office on Tuesday evening, William Ingram, storeinan, u aged 52 (Mr. Aekinst, appeared in the Police Court' yesterday, charged with attempting to steal a letter book and committing a breach of a prohibition order. Detective-Sergeant Walsh said accused had many past convictions, having last been' before the Court on July 9 for vagrancy, when ho was ordered to appear for sentence if called upon within a year. Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., said /.the circumstances of the case indicated accused went to the office to steal something, but not necessarily the book mentioned in the,charge. It seemed to ' bo a case of a man on sustenance getting the worse for drink and following : out an old bent. ; -The attempted theft information was dismissed, and accused was fined £2, in seven days' imprisonment, on : the second charge.
