INJURED AT FOUNDRY
YOUTH'S EAR TORN OFF REPLACEMENT AT HOSPITAL Caught in machinery -when -working at the foundry of Messrs. Mason and Porter in Parnell early last evening, an engineer's apprentice had his right ear torn off. He was conveyed in a St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where an operation was performed and tho ear stitched on. The youth was Geoffrey Marten Douglas, aged 19, son of Mr. Henry McDonald Douglas, of 48 Mountain View Road, Morningside. While working on a machine tho sleeve of his pullover was caught and ho was drawn into the machinery. In addition to losing his ear, the youth suffered lacerations of the right shoulder before ho was dragged clear by a workmate. Mr. Douglas' condition late last night was not regarded as serious by the hospital authorities.
