JAPANESE MOTIVES
PROTECTION OF CHINA A prominent member of .tho Japanese Parliament, Mr. Ynsuke Tsurumi, who arrived in Sydney from Japan recently, said that the conllict between Japan and China would not develop into a major war, states the Sydney Morning Herald. The motives behind Japan's activities, ho added, were the preservation of order and prosperity in the Far East, and the demonstration to China of tho necessity of co-operating with Japan. Japan was not encroaching, upon China It was merely protecting China. Mr. Tsurumi attributed the present conflict to the anti-Japanese propaganda campaign which, he said, had been conducted in Chinese schools and educational institutions since 1915.
