CRUISER RETURNS
H.M.S. ACHILLES IN PORT FAST TRIP FROM SUVA After being absent from Auckland since Juno 12 011 her first cruise of the Pacific Islands, the flagship of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, H.M.S. Achilles, returned to Auckland at 10 o'clock last night from Suva. The Achilles was originally schedued to reach port at 10.30 this morning. On her arrival she was moored iu the stream, and she will berth at the Pevonport Naval Rase this morning. The cruiser made a fast voyage of three days from Suva.
SECOND COMMISSION ESCORT VESSEL WELLINGTON The Imperial escort vessel Wellington, which left Auckland for the south last Friday, is at present' being recommissioned by Commander G. N. Loriston-Clarke at Wellington, this being the second commission of the warship since she was launched three years ago. With the exception of her commander, the officers and Imperial ratings, who have been on the gtation since 1935, have been paid off and will bo succeeded by men who arrived at Wellington on Wednesday from England. 'She will leave for Auckland on Monday and is due to arrive from the Hauraki Gulf after gunnery practice on September 10.
