A BUSY TWO MONTHS MANY COMFORTS SUPPLIED Two very busy months were reported at a meeting of tho Auckland Hospital Auxiliary held on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. A. D. Campbell presided. Much had been done to provide warm clothes for needy patients and in tho distribution of nourishing foods, milk, medicines and groceries. In discussing the work, Mrs. Campbell congratulated tho presidents of the various branches on the wonderful work their members had carried out during the past 12 months, and spoke with appreciation of the help they had given to the main branch. With reference to the canteen opened six weeks ago, she said that it had more than fulfilled all their expectations in the servico it had given to patients. In reporting on the work of the past two months, the secretary, Miss Curson, stated that much had been done to assist out-patients. A total of 796 garments had been given out from the depot, while 284 families had been assisted. Many tubercular patients had been provided with extra nourishment and warm clothing through the sister in charge' of the tubercular dispensary. Patients of the district nurses also had been supplied with extra foods and medicines, while orders had been given for tram fares, milk, eggs, butter and footwear. The usual parcels had been received from the Mount Eden branch. The secietary also reported that parcels of made-up clothing had been received from the following institutes: — Waiuku, Titirangi, Kohikohi, New Lynn, Te Atatu and Henderson. The sub-committees of tho Mount Eden, Onehunga, Mental Hospital, district nurses and sewing circlo branches, as well as tho main branch were carrying out their respective duties at the Mental Hospital, Kingseat, the Alexandra Convalescent Home, the Epsom Infirmary and tuberculosis shelters* Wards at tho Auckland Hospital had been supplied with dressing gowns, pyjamas, nightgowns, bed jackets, slippers, flannels arid bed. socks, while 42 patients had been given complete outfits of clothing when leaving the hospital.
