ONEHUNGA ORPHANS
ANNUAL LADIES' NIGHT ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME The annual "ladies' night" of the Onehunga Orphans' Club attracted a gathering of approximately 600 members and visitors in the Foresters' Theatre, Onehunga, on Wednesday, and was a thoroughly enjoyable function. The president, Mr. J. E. Gillies, presided. The official visitors were Mr. C. E. Jones, president of the Christchurch Savage Club, Mr. Leo Hartman and Mr. W. Bowker, president and secretary respectively of the Devonport Orphans' Club, Mr. George Heald and members of the Papakura Orphans' Club, Mr. W. Todd and party, representing the Tamaki Orphans' Club, and Messrs. Howden, Brooks and Clark, of the Auckland Orphans' Club. The club's orchestra, under the baton of Mr. J. T. Lighton, contributed several enjoyable selections, while vocal solos by the boy soprano, Aubry Gibbs, and Mr. Stewart Harvey, an acrobatic display by Mr. L. Wilson and his troupe, conjuring bj r Mr. P. Harris, violin solos by Mr. Vincent Aspey, and humorous items by Mr. D. Stark, contributed to an excellent programme. Mr. Len Elliott was the accompanist. The supper arrangements were under the supervision of the club's chief steward, Mr. W. Tegg, and following supper dancing took place. Among the ladies present were: — Mrs. J. E. Gillies, Mrs. Robert.
